We had arrived in Paris just after Christmas for a week off over the new year after a couple of weeks of travel for work, before landing in Berlin. I just had my medium format TLR with me, and thought maybe it was a good chance to unplug and not worry so much about producing work. And yet - walking up the street to our hotel on the first day, a man selling cameras out of a small stall caught my attention, and when I asked if he had anything good he said he had something he'd been waiting to sell to the right person. I dismissed a thought of 'here we go' and heard him out. He dug around and pulled out a still-boxed Konica point-and-shoot that had never had a roll put through it. He said he'd sell me the right battery and a couple of rolls of film for 30 euro. My excitement at having a new little camera, and the experimentation it offered shows through in the work - alongside a side of Paris I'm so glad I discovered through the tiny viewfinder.
